Development of the BIM architectural design of the New Maternity Hospital in the Al Sabah Health Region of Kuwait City, provided with a main building, an annex building, pedestrian bridge connections and a multi-storey car park
Project overview
On the site adjacent to the already existing Maternity Hospital in Kuwait City, the Ministry of Public Works of Kuwait commissioned the design, build, furnishing and medical equipment and furnishings for a new health facility specialized in obstetrics and neonatal care. The project includes
- the Main Building with 3 towers, of which the highest reaches 18 floors
- an Annex Building, which hosts ambulatory services, administrative offices and an Auditorium
- one Multi-Storey Car Park with 1300 parking places
- three air-conditioned pedestrian bridges connecting the current hospital to the new buildings
The gross area involved is 18,000 m2, for a built-up area of 351,000 m2 including services and parking. The facility accomodates 780 beds and 27 operating theatres among obstetric, gynecologic and IVF ones.
Being located close to the bay area, the New Maternity Hospital, will be equipped with a sea wall along the 320 m shore line. There is also a landscaping plan for the external areas and the rooftops.
The commissioned construction company is Pizzarotti & C. SpA, which is also responsible for the supply of all medical equipment and interior furnishing, as well as for the future Operational Maintenance. The design is by Pace | Architecture Engineering + Planning with the collaboration of Studio Altieri SpA and SSH International, respectively international and local consultants.

In continuity with and as a result of our several collaborations during the last years, Studio Altieri SpA commissioned STEAV Srl to develop the BIM architectural design of the New Maternity Hospital in Kuwait City using Autodesk Revit. The modeling and executive drawings we are entrusted for concern the following sectors:
- Annex Building
- Multi-storey Car Park
- Landscaping planning
- Central Unity Plant (CUP)
